The Meaning and Benefit of Compassion
Compassion is an emotion prompted by becoming aware of, and feeling the pain of
others. It is essential to spiritual growth since it helps us to shift the focus
from ourselves and our own suffering to the focus on other sentient beings' suffering
and actually make efforts to relieve them from that suffering. Compassion is thus
a way to access Unselfish Love while it is also an inherent aspect of it.
All in moderation
As with all human emotions, if we have too much compassion it blinds our
perspective on things because we have
allowed that emotion to grow out of proportion, our actions can become harmful.
Therefore we should always be humble and use our intuition to guide us to
unselfish action.
